• Sometime in 2003 Cadillac changed the head bolt threads to a more coarse design. This may have resulted in a better “grip” of the head bolts into the aluminum block. To date, I have not seen any head gasket failures in any 2003+ Northstar equipped vehicles. UPDATE: As of 1-17-2011, I have at my shop, a 2004 DeVille and a 2005 DeVille with head gasket issues.
